Kathmandu: The monsoon is expected to become more active starting this afternoon, according to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology.

In a bulletin issued on Thursday evening, the department urged all concerned to prepare for increased rainfall beginning Friday. The development and northward movement of a low-pressure monsoon belt near Nepal are expected to cause further rain across the country.

Meteorologist Prativa Manandhar stated that the weather would generally be cloudy, with light to moderate rainfall expected nationwide. However, certain areas are predicted to experience heavy rainfall due to the monsoon winds.

Heavy rainfall has already been observed in parts of Gandaki and Lumbini Provinces. From Friday onwards, heavy rain accompanied by lightning is expected in one or two locations in Madhes and Karnali Provinces, as well as in various parts of other provinces.
